In a mini-trial procedure; once the procedure is launched and even before the appointment of the chairman of the mini-trial committee, the parties pay an advance on mini-trial costs. This advance is determined in accordance with the amount in dispute and within the limits of the mini-trial scale, scale which is an integral part of the CEPANI Rules. (annex 1).

The amount resulting from the application of the scale is used to pay the fees and costs of the Chairman of the mini-trial committee. It is increased of 10% in order to cover the administrative costs of CEPANI. These two amounts put together represent the advance on mini-trial costs.

At the end of the mini-trial, the Secretariat of CEPANI asks the Chairman of the mini-trial committee a statement of the costs and expenses due to the mini-trial procedure. The Secretariat deducts these costs from the advance that it has at its disposal in order to compensate the costs and fees of the chairman of the mini-trial committee. The balance remaining is paid to the chairman of the mini-trial committee as fees.

The Secretariat of CEPANI informs the chairman of the mini-trial committee of the state of his costs and fees and asks that he hand in an account for the amount that will be paid to him. CEPANI will proceed with the payment once the account is handed in.

The costs related to the assessors remain chargeable to the parties that appointed them.
